Two suspects of JIS' sexual assault undergo mental health test

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Jakarta metropolitan police investigators have sent two suspects of the Jakarta International School (JIS)'s sexual assault case to the Kramatjati police hospital here on Tuesday for physical and mental health tests.

The two suspects, only identified as NB and FT, were detained after being questioned by the police investigators on Monday evening, Director of the Jakarta metropolitan police's detective division Senior Commissioner Heru Pranoto said.

They had allegedly abused AK, JIS's kindergarten student, last March. NB is a Canadian, while FT is an Indonesian, he said.

In connection with the case, the JIS Principal Timothy Carr had also been questioned.

Besides NB and FT, the Jakarta police had previously named other suspects identified as Agun, Awan, Zainal, Syahrial, and a woman with the initials AS. Another suspect Azwar had committed suicide in police custody.

The suspects were cleaning service workers who were not permanent employees of the school. They had allegedly abused AK in a toilet of the school.

In addition to the AK case, the Jakarta police had also received another report of sexual assault involving a kindergarten student identified as DA at the school.
