REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BATAM -- Hundreds of Muslims grouped in the National Committee for the Palestinian People (KNRP) of the Riau Islands chapter have collected Rp400 million which will be contributed to the Palestinians in facing Israeli military aggression.
"We along with a Muslim cleric from Palestine are successful to collect about 400 million from a number of fund-raising activities in the Riau Islands for seven days. Students also collected some donations in a similar action," chairman of the Riau Islands provincial KNRP chapter, Bachtiar said here on Sunday.
Bachtiar made the remarks when hundreds of Muslims in Batam, Riau Islands province held a street rally and handing out stickers bearing the image of victims of Israeli atrocities and an invitation to donate for Palestinians through Bank Syahriah Mandiri account number 701.723.4204 on behalf of the KNRP Kepri 701.723.4204.
"That's account number is for people who want to relieve our brothers in Palestine as victims of Israeli barbarity," he disclosed.
"We would like to emphasize that what Israel committed has exceed that of human rights violations, because in Palestine there is the Al-Aqsa Mosque, so we encourage people to care about the place and give contribution through the bank account," Bachtiar pointed out.
Apart from that, hundreds of people in Banda Aceh on Sunday also held a rally to condemn the Israeli military aggression in Gaza and raised funds to help the Palestinians` struggle in facing the Zionist nation`s military aggression.
The solidarity expression event took place in the front yard of the Baiturrahman grand mosque in Aceh provincial city of Banda Aceh.
Chairman of the National Committee for the Palestinian People (KNRP), Tgk Mahyaruddin Yusuf, on the occasion said that the Zionist military has committed heinous practice by trying to burn down the land and the Muslims of Palestine.
