REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BALAI KOTA -- Jakarta provincial government will tighten supervision of food spread, which may illegally enter Jakarta after the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) Serang, Banten found 30 thousand illegal foods and drinks from Korea.
Acting Governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama said that the supervision would be fully handed over to BPOM Jakarta.
"BPOM will check it," Purnama said on Friday.
He requested BPOM to periodically check foods in Jakarta, including foods in all stalls. According to him, llegal foods and drinks should not be sold in Jakarta. Only the labelled foods can be circulated in the capital city.
In event of Jakarta Fair several weeks ago, Purnama said that he found many foods that were unfit for human consumption. Therefore, they were banned to be sold.
