REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TRENGGALEK -- Flash floods triggered by incessant heavy rains inundated several villages in the Trenggalek District, East Java Province, as the local rivers overflowed.
Floodwaters reaching a height of up to an adult's hip paralyzed regular activities of the local villagers, Dimas, a local resident of the Gandusari sub-district, stated here on Friday.
The overflowing Tawing River caused flooding in a traditional market located between the Gandusari and Kampak sub-districts.
The flood-affected villages were Ngrayung, Wonorejo, Sukorejo, and Gandusari. Tens of hectares of rice fields in Trenggalek were also inundated.
