REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Acting Governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, said that monorail project was not suitable for development of Jakarta which was dynamic in nature.

"It's obvious, we cannot develop monorail rapidly here," Purnama or popularly called Ahok, said recently.

According to Ahok, monorail system uses permanent concrete pillars making the project seems impossible to be extended or modified in the future. In fact, Jakarta keeps itself growing by building new apartments or housing and monorail pathways can pose as obstacle to connect it with new lanes. Hence, Ahok considered rail based transportation like train and Mass Rapid Transit (MRT). He also hinted  to limit the number of motorcycles in Jakarta.,
