XL targets 6 million new customers during Ramadan

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Mobile network operator PT XL Axiata (EXCL) targetted six million new customers during fasting month of Ramadan through the issuance of prepaid SIM cards 'XL Blessing of Ramadan.' Deputy Chief Marketing Officer of XL, Kencono Wibowo said the launching had been held on Thursday.

"The new prepaid SIM Card 'XL Blessing of Ramadan' will be released about 10 million units. We hope that the six million customers can be our new subscribers," Wibowo said recently.

The SIM cards will be distributed to 25 thousand outlets accross XL Network. Company plans to distribute at least 400 new SIM cards in each outlet. This program will be held until Eid al-Fitr.

XL estimated that 5-30 percent of mobile traffic increased compared to normal activity. XL currently serves 510 million minutes of mobile traffic per day, 700 million short messages services per day and 325 terabytes of data traffic per day.

President Director XL Axiata, Hasnul Suhaimi said that there would be some movement of the use of mobile location into villages in West Java, Central Java, East Java, also Sumatra. By serving more than 68.5 million subscribers now, XL has more than 45,600 base transceiver station (BTS) 2G and 3G also fiber optic backbone network stretched across Java and connected via underwater cable network to Bali, Lombok, Sumatra, Batam, Kalimantan and Sulawesi.
