REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Director General of Foreign Trade in Ministry of Trade, Bachrul Chairi said that government would help breeders to ease regulation on breeding stock import. He added that government would not limit the import. 

"Basically, we will help the import of 1 million breeding stock to fill the gap," he said on Tuesday.

Ministry of Trade has asked Ministry of Agriculture to help the import after breeders asking government's help to achieve food security and import tariff reduction. There are 145 thousands breeding stock, 18 thousands livestock, and 3.037 local livestock.

Government has approved 45 thousands tonnes meat during the second quarter, but import realization has just reached 8.316 tonnes of meat. "The import will increase in two weeks before Eid al Fitr," he said.
