REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEHRAN -- Singaporean Parliament Speaker Halimah Yacob is slated to visit Iran on Saturday.

Yacob's visit will take place upon an official invitation by Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.

During her four-day visit, Yacob is scheduled to meet with Larijani, members of Iran-Singapore parliamentary friendship group and some other Iranian officials.

Yacob is the first Muslim female who has been elected as Singapore's parliament speaker.

Iranian and Singaporean officials have recently increased their contacts in a move to boost bilateral trade ties and cooperation.
