REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUPANG - East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) is vulnerable to climate change as some area in this province have low rainfall intensity.
"Climate change has become a serious problem in recent years with the increasing of natural disasters, such as floods, droughts, hurricanes, landslides, tidal waves, forest fires and environmental damaWe should provide the solutions," Mudjiadi, an expert at Ministry of Public Works, said recently.
Chairman of Indonesian Hydraulic Engineers Association (HATHI) explained that NTT's experience in managing water resources and its potential challenge should help the province to counter the problems. The problems are drought management, conservation of water catchment areas and water supply.
While some other inevitable problems are the impact of climate change, like flood, drought, hurricane, landslide, high wave, forest fire, and environmental damage.
