REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Muslim-based Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) officially declared its support to presidential candidate from Gerindra, Prabowo Subianto, on Saturday (17/5). Both sides were praising each other characteristics.

In his political speech, Prabowo conveyed the unremitting praise for PKS's cadres.

The sons of the economic expert, Soemitro Djojohadikoesoemo, said that the cadres of PKS were smart and had a high discipline in politics. Moreover, he said, they possessed an exceptional militancy in the struggling for the faith of their party.

"The cadres of PKS were smart, militant. Moreover, its women cadres (akhwat), they are resistant [to any problems]," he said, followed by loud applause by the audience as reported by Mas Alamil Huda.

Prabowo compared it with his party's cadre. He said, Gerindra's cadres, as a nationalist party, was less militant as PKS that known to be religious. According to him, PKS cadres' militancy was one thing to be proud of the twin crescent party.

Meanwhile, President of PKS Anis Matta, equally praised that Gerindra chief patron. He said, Prabowo who had army background was true democrat figure and has a strong personality.

"It's a unique combination," Anis said.

Anis said, Indonesia needs a strong leader figure, which is able to bring the nation to pass the transitional period, after 16 years of reform.

"It's time for Indonesia to take off and should be led by a strong person. And it is [available] in Prabowo ['s personality]," Anis said. (translated by Kiki Sakinah)
