REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Attorney General's Office (AGO) sees no urgency to question Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo after former Jakarta Transportation Agency chief Udar Pristono was declared a suspect in an alleged corruption case on bus procurement.

Attorney General Basrief Arief said here on Friday every result of the investigation was evaluated to decide whether other parties were also involved.

"We will later follow up the result of the investigation," he added.

Therefore, now is not the time to question Joko Wiidodo, better known as Jokowi. "I think the junior attorney general of special crimes will explain it in detail," he remarked.

Asked if high ranking officials were involved in the case, he said none were involved in it.

The Attorney General's Office had named Udar Pristono and the director of the Transportation Technology and System Center of the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) as suspects in the case.

Law expert Margarito previously urged the Attorney General's Office to question Jokowi after former Jakarta Transportation Agency chief Udar Pristono was declared a suspect in an alleged corruption case on bus procurement.

"In general, governors are not involved in the disbursement of budget funds. But it is not impossible that he does not know the project," Margarito said in a statement released on Wednesday.

The Jakarta governor should be questioned to see if he had carried out his legal obligation through internal controls, he added.

"That's important to ensure justice in the case," he pointed out.

Therefore, he added that Jokowi should be questioned to see if he had controlled the project.
