REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Visitors of Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) event has been increased every year since its first occasion in 2009. The fact indicated that Indonesia can host the best of motor show's event in Asia.
Former boss of Toyota Indonesia, Johnny Dharmawan revealed Indonesia will be the leader of automotive industry in Asia. He said Indonesia had chance to be a Detroit of Asia.
"The biggest motor show's event in Asia now is in Thailand and Indonesia. But later, [I believe] Indonesia will be better," Johnny said in Jakarta, Wednesday (7/5).
Currently, Johnny continued, Indonesia motor show's event is the largest motor show in Asia, even compared from Thailand and Japan which were known as the largest countries of automotive manufacturer in Asia.
"Bangkok, we've just defeated [it], we hope it is not only the [matter of] quantity but the quality as well," he said.
Johnny hoped the IIMS would not be only a point for costumer to buy a car, but also as an education center of automotive technologies.
