Indonesian receive honorary medals from Japan government

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAKASSAR -- Three Indonesian nationals received honorary medals from the Japanese government for their achievement in promoting bilateral relations between Indonesia and Japan, a press release received from Japan's embassy in Jakarta stated on Monday.

Sapto Darsono, 74 years old, received "The Order of The Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays" for his role in promoting Indonesia-Japan's bilateral relations through a Bonsai community. Sapto was also a former chief of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)'s Alumni Association from 1981 to 2001.

Femmi Umboh, 61 years old, received "The Order of The Sacred Treasure, Gold and Silver Rays" for her role as staff of Japan's Embassy in Jakarta since 1976.

Throughout her career, Femmi had carried out consular services efficiently and with passion.

Another Indonesian who received the honorary medal from the Japan government was Rifzal Rivai, who was awarded the "The Order of the Sacred Treasure Gold and Silver Rays." Rifzal was also an employee at Japan's Embassy in Jakarta. He had worked there for 36 years since 1977, as a local staff who handled administrative and accounting work.
