REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR -- Household handicraft industry of plastic raw material of Bali province contributed 4.11 million USD to state's foreign exchange (forex) during January to February 2014, an increase of 44.8 percent over the same period last year. Head of Public Relations of Bali Provincial Government, I Ketut Teneng said that forex earnings increased significantly showing the price of handicraft industrial plastic materials becoming more expensive in foreign market.

"However, the volume sales slumped 42.90 percent from 5.14 million units in 2013 to 2.94 million units in 2014," Teneng said on Tuesday.

By improving design quality and product types, Bali is expected to remain able to reach more and more forex income in next months. Teneng added that Balinese craftsmen and artists are creative to make various kinds of souvenirs of plastic raw materials to compete fairly among foreign consumers.
