REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Two state owned companies, PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PHE) as Pertamina's subsidiary and PT PLN signed a head of agreement (HoA) on new basic price of geothermal and electric power in some central locations of geothermal power plants. 

President Director of PT PLN, Nur Pamudji, said that geothermal price in Hululais and Sungai Penuh was 7 cents per kWh. Both companies agreed that the downstream price of electricity within range 8.4 cents to 11.6 cents per kWh.

"So there will be lower price for old locations and more expensive price for new locations," Pamudji said recently, after signing ceremony with President Director of PHE Rony Gunawan, last weekend.

All geothermal locations are in Sungai Penuh power plant with capacity of 2x55 megawatt (MW) in Jambi, Hululais power plant (2x25 MW) in Bengkulu, Kotamobagu power plant (4x20 MW) in North Sulawesi, Lumut Balai power plant (4x55 MW) in South Sumatra, Ulubelu power plant (2x55 MW) in Lampung, Kamojang power plant (1x30 MW) in West Java), Karaha power plant (1x30 MW) in West Java) and Lahendong power plant (2x20 MW) in North Sulawesi.

Energy analyst, Kurtubi recommended Pertamina's board of directors to run the Blue Sky Project (PLBC) Pertamina UP IV Cilacap, Central Java. The projects are considered as strategic to boost oil production with Pertamax high octane's quality, to reduce the dependence on imported fuel.

"Pertamina is supposed to accelerate the projects because it is cheaper than building a new refinery," Kurtubi said.
