Pertamina: Indonesia's oil and gas productions increase

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - State owned oil and gas company, PT Pertamina showed an increase in oil and gas production during the first quarter of 2014 compared to same period in 2013. Pertamina's upstream director, M Husen said that the production had reached 196 thousand barrels per day (bopd) compared to 186 bopd in 2013.

"The volume increased 3.7 percent compared to last year," Husen said recently.

Natural gas production also increased from 1.518 million cubic feet per day (mmscfd) to 1.568 mmscfd in the first quarter of 2014. Problem occured so far was extreme weather disturbance in January 2014, which influenced drilling production at West Madura Offshore (WMO), Pertamina-Petrochina East Java (PPEJ) and Pertamina EP Cepu. Pertamina has accelerated the drilling in several wells in order to boost production in second quarter 2014.

Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Hulu energy (PHE), Wahidin Nurluzia said that upstream oil and gas production in first quarter of 2014 each had reached 68 thousand bopd and 502 mmscfd compared to 57 thousand bopd and 467 mmscfd in 2013. Oil production rose 19.3 percent, while gas 7.5 percent. Pertamina was supported by three subsidiaries, namely Pertamina EP, PHE and Pertamina EP Cepu.
