Garuda Indonesia offers 12.48 percent new shares

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The shareholders of national flag carrier, PT Garuda Indonesia, approved company's plan to offer 3,227,930,633 shares of Series B or approximately 12.48 percent of enlarged capital. The fund will be used to purchase new airplanes including Boeing-737, B-777, A-330 and A-320 types.

President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Emirsyah Satar said that every registered shareholder who had minimum of 701,409 shares per April 4, 2014 could buy the new share at price of 460 IDR per share.

"Company expects to pocket 1.484 trillion IDR," Satar said recently.

The fund will be used as pre-delivery payment of aircraft, leased aircraft deposit, final payment of new aircraft purchasing, as well as other capital expenditures to develop new fleet, including spare parts and aircraft components also aircraft machineries. The plan aims to anticipate the increasing number of passengers due to additional flight frequencies and the opening of some new routes.

Development of new fleet also intended to improve fuel efficiency and reducing cost of maintenance. In 2014, Garuda Indonesia will bring 27 aircrafts consisted of two units of Boeing 777-300 ER, four units of Airbus A330, 12 units of Boeing 737-800NG, three units of Bombardier CRJ1000 NextGen and six units of ATR72-600. Through Quantum Leap 2011-2015 program, Garuda Indonesia will have 194 aircrafts
