REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CIANJUR -- The National Narcotics Eradication Agency (BNN) said the two quintals of dried marijuana that were seized on Sunday in the Puncak area of West Java likely came from the Cianjur district.

Based on the investigations, the Chief of Agency for Cianjur District, Hendrik, predicted the marijuana was delivered from Cianjur.

"We are investigating the case along with the police force. We are following leads in the case to find other perpetrators who are hiding in Cianjur," Hendrik said here on Wednesday.

He said it was likely the couriers had delivered the master package of marijuana from Jakarta to Cianjur and the retailer in Cianjur had divided the package to be distributed to a number of areas.

"We suppose the marijuana came from Haurwangi village in Cianjur and was meant for the Sukabumi district. The two couriers who had been arrested were changing their car in the Herlina Hospital parking area of Sukabumi and were going to Jakarta," Hendrik said.

The Agency predicted both the couriers reported to the drug dealer whose initial is "M".

"We are still investigating the case, whether the Cianjur area is only the access way or is the marijuana derived from the district. We are still investigating the case and will continue to coordinate with the police force," he added.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Cianjur Resort Police, Senior Commissioner Adjunct Dedy Kusuma Bhakti, denied that the marijuana was produced in Cianjur. He said the narcotics was produced in Sukabumi and bound for Jakarta.

"The join team of the Cianjur Traffic Police force and the West Java Police force had arrested the couriers, when they were delivering the package. Police officers had seized marijuana that was hidden in the car," Dedy said.

The police force is still questioning the couriers in the Cianjur Police Headquarters to unearth the wider narcotics network.

"The marijuana is not from Cianjur, but rather from Sukabumi that was bound for Jakarta. The amount of the seized marijuana is not one quintal, but 171 small packages each of which weigh 1 to 3 kilograms. We expect the total amount of marijuana is at least 2 quintals," Dedy said.
