REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Peoples Conscience Party (Hanura) Chief patron, Hary Tanoesudibjo who is also vice presidential candidate of party said that agriculture should be main sector for local economy. Unfortunately, the sector has not managed optimally. Instead of being a main sector, many farmers are actually switching their professions.

"Many farmers do not want to be farmers anymore and sell their farmland," Tanoesudibjo said on Tuesday as reported by Muhammad Akbar Wijaya.

Indonesia as an agricultural country has lost its food self sufficiency and relying its foods on foreign products. Many farmers in Central Java as center of rice live in poverty. There is a misguided policy in agricultural sector.

Tanoesudibjo also added that mining sector was one of the largest corruption sectors in Indonesia as perpetrators covered behind regulation. Firmness is necessary to save the state money. Good regulation will not be optimal without coupled with strict law enforcement.
