Here are 184 conflicts prone areas in Indonesia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Ministry of Social has mapped 184 prone areas of conflicts in Indonesia due to economic condition. Expert of Social Minister, Sapto Waluyo explained that there were six regions predicted as the most vulnerable areas of social conflicts in 2014, namely Papua, West Java, Jakarta, North Sumatra, Central Sulawesi and Central Java.

"Most of areas have low economic conditions compared to other regions. Social interactions among groups in the regions are also very rigid, making it easy to be broken just because of small problem," Waluyo said in Jakarta on Monday.

In 2013, there were 24 conflicts happened in Papua, while 24 conflicts in West Java, 18 conflicts in Jakarta, 10 conflicts in North Sumatra, 10 conflicts in Central Sulawesi and 10 conflicts in Central Java. In political year of 2014, the tension will certainly increase, so that Ministry of Social launched a social harmony program in 50 areas in Indonesia and also the strengthening of local wisdom in 30 areas.

The goal is to prevent possible conflicts or to minimize the impact. Waluyo said that Indonesia should grow energy pioneer of peace, especially young people.
