REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOJONEGORO -- The upstream oil and gas regulator (SKK Migas) said it is optimistic the crude oil production target of 165,000 barrel per day from the Cepu block could be reached in November, this year.

The Banyu Urip field at the Cepu Block is expected to turn out 165,000 barrels of crude oil per day if its operates at full capacity.

However, after years, the production from the oil field in Bojonegoro on the border area of East Java and Central Java, has always fallen short of the target.

"SKK Migas is optimistic will reach the target although there are still problem to be sorted out," head of the project Yulius Wiratno said here on Tuesday.

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik has said in a report production target would be reached in November, 2014 or four months longer from July set earlier.

Yulius said a supervisory team has been sent to the project to monitor development of the oil project from engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) work to ensure proper implementation.

"Based on report from the project, development of EPC both in Bojonegoro and Tuban already reached 83 percent," he said.

Cepu Block is among the country's most potential oil field jointly controlled by US Exon Mobil and state energy company PT Pertamina with the US company as the operator.
