REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Agus Martowardojo hopes government to reduce oil subsidy, which was perceived less on target. He reminded the importance of structural reforms in national economy.

"It will be better if the subsidy converts to direct subsidy to the poor, for example," Martowardojo said recently as reported by Muhammad Iqbal.

Martowardojo said that he could only remind government to consider it. Energy subsidy continues to burden the state budget. For example, value of energy subsidy, including fuel and electricity in 2014 takes 194.89 trillion IDR and 71.364 trillion IDR out of 1,842.495 trillion IDR of state budget.
