REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Vice President Boediono said 14 airports had been completed this year and ready to operate. They are located in several remote areas and outer islands of eastern Indonesia.

"We will open 14 small airports this year and some of them are already operating in beginning of 2014," Boediono said on Thursday.

Air traffic density in Indonesia is already high. Some infrastructures need to connect various locations in the country. Boediono said that this progress needed to be announced.

These 14 airports are especially located in Sumatra, Maluku Islands and Papua. Some of them are Muara Bungo airport (Jambi) and Pekon Serai (West Lampung), Pagar Alam (South Sumatra), Bawean (Bawean Island), Sumarorong (Mamasa), Bone-Bone (Maluku Island), Ibra, Saumlaki Baru (Southeast Maluku), Kuffar (papua) and Raja Ampat (Papua).
