REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKK Migas) has forecast that the liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies to the domestic market will increase 52 percent in 2014, as compared to 2013.
On Wednesday, the task force's deputy for commercial control, Widhyawan Prawiraatmaja, remarked that the government has allocated 38 cargoes of LNG for domestic consumption this year.
"This year, the government has set aside 38 cargoes of LNG, up by 13 cargoes from 25 cargoes allocated in 2013," he pointed out.
He noted that there was a marked increase in LNG supplies, particularly after the state-owned gas company PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) Tbk operated a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in the Lampung province.
He further added that in 2014, the FSRU in Lampung is expected to receive five cargoes of LNG from the Tangguh refinery in the West Papua province.
According to him, the 38 cargoes of LNG this year comprised 22 cargoes from the Bontang refinery owned by PT Badak NGL and 16 cargoes from the Tangguh refinery managed by BP Berau Limited.
All the 22 cargoes of LNG from the Bontang refinery were meant for the FSRU in West Java, while the 16 cargoes from the Tangguh refinery comprised 5 for the FSRU in West Java, 6 for the state fertilizer company PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda under an exchange arrangement, and 5 for the FSRU in Lampung.
In 2013, the SKK Migas distributed 7,030 BBTUD, comprising 3,660 BBTUD or 52.1 percent for domestic consumption and 3,370 BBTUD or 47.9 percent for exports.
Meanwhile, domestic gas supplies reached 3,550 BBTUD or 49.5 percent and exports stood at 3,631 BBTUD or 50.5 percent in 2012.
