REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The results of a research conducted by University of Indonesia show Anies Baswedan, one of the convention participants of the ruling Democratic party`s presidential candidates for 2014 presidential election, has the highest political capability.
The Political Psychology Department of University of Indonesia (UI) on Sunday announced the results of the research conducted in searching the political opponents of Jokowi (popular name of Jakarta governor Joko Widodo).
The results of the research showed that Prof. Anies Baswedan, who is concurrently rector of Paramadina University based in Jakarta got score 7.26, followed by Tri Rismaharini (Surabaya mayor) with score 7,25, and Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Jakarta deputy governor with score 7.24.
Chairman of UI Laboratory of Political Psychology, Hamdi Muluk said that Anies got the highest score of political capability especially in his aptitude to win a tug of negotiation between the various interests.
"The interest includes mobilizing support of the masses and potentially get public support," said Hamdi when launching the research results, adding that the research was conducted on December 16 through 27, 2013.
According to Hamdi, in addition to having the highest political ability, Anies also got the highest score in the other tested dimensions such as political stability dimension (7.14) and dimensional appearance (7.63).
The Research opinion leaders aimed at seeking political opponents against Jokowi, was intended for the selection of national leaders based on the quality and capabilities of the would be leaders.
"To that end, we ignore the popularity and electability factor. Even ignoring whether or not the candidate is willing (to be elected)," Hamdi noted.
So far Jokowi's electability is the highest among several prominent figures.
In the meantime, Political Communication expert of the State Islamic University (UIN), Gun Gun Heryanto, said that Anies is competitive and has a bargaining power.
