REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEHRAN -- Italian Foreign Minister Emma Bonino arrived in Tehran on Saturday at the head of a high-ranking delegation for a two-day visit.
During her stay, the Italian Foreign Minister is scheduled to discuss issues of mutual interest as well as regional and international problems with Iranian officials.
Ms Bonino is due to hold separate meetings with Vice-President and head of Department of Environment of Iran, Masoumeh Ebtekar and Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs, Shahindokht Molaverdi today.
She will also hold a meeting with her Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on Sunday.
In an interview with IRNA, Iran's Ambassador to Italy Jahanbakhsh Mozaffari expressed his satisfaction with the new developments in Tehran-Rome relations, saying, Italy enjoys a special position in Iran?s foreign policy.
Referring to Italy as a major European Union state, he lauded the country's positive stances regarding peaceful settlement of Iran's nuclear issue and Syrian crisis.
The Iranian foreign minister in a day long visit to Italy on November 19 met and conferred with Ms Bonino.
The two foreign ministers had also met on the sidelines of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
