REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) has urged the police headquarters in Jakarta to take over investigations of corruption case implicating Bengkulu Governor Junaidi Hamsyah.

"There are too many corruption cases in Bengkulu with investigations stalled under local police such as one involving the governor," IPW chairman Neta S Pane said here on Friday.

Neta asked the public to report alleged malfeasance in the use of the Rp5.09 billion fund of Dana Jasa Tim Pembina Manejemen RSUD M Yunus in 2010 - 2012 not only to the Bengkulu regional police but should also report the case to the Criminal Detective Department of the Police Headquarters in Jakarta.

He said the Bengkulu governor has to give his account for the alleged embezzlement of the fund for M Junus Hospital development service.

He said he is confident the Criminal Detective Department of the Police Headquarter would step in to settle corruption cases in Bengkulu.

The new police chief Gen. Sutarman has made commitment to settling corruption cases in the regions, he said.

He also asked the police headquarters to investigate the police officers who failed to make progress in the investigations of the cases since December 2012.

Earlier this month, the Bengkulu Students and Youth Alliance (AMPB), the Independent Committee for Budget Transparency and Student Community of Anti Corruption had visited the Police Headquarter here on Thursday to report the case.

The Bengkulu student and youth organizations asked investigators from the police headquarters to take over investigation of the alleged corruption involving the provincial governor.

So far , after a year of probing, the regional police has named only the director and the management of the hospital as suspects.

The corruption has been suspected based on a report of the development and financial watchdog (BPKP) which said the alleged corruption has caused a loss of Rp5.1 billion in state fund.
