KPK sets Banten Governor as suspect

REPUBLIKA, JAKARTA -- Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has set Banten Governor, Ratu Atut Chosiyah as suspect in a bribery case on disputed election in Lebak regency. The Commission has raided house of Banten Governor this morning.

Sprindik document of Chosiyah has been signed by all chiefs of KPK on Monday night followed with investigation on Tuesday morning. Two KPK leaders, Bambang Widjojanto and Busyro Muqoddas still do not want to disclose more about this information. They said that it would be announced by KPK Chairman, Abraham Samad in a press conference today.

"Please contact our chairman. He is going to announce it," Widjojanto said on Tuesday.

KPK Spokesman, Johan Budi said that Commission has also conducted an investigation related to procurement project of medical equipment in Banten in fiscal year of 2010-2012. Today, Commission raided the house belonging to Banten Governor.

"It's true. There is a searching in house of Banten Governor," Budi said.

Chosiyah first has been summoned as witness to bribery case in handling disputed election in Lebak regency. KPK has decided three suspects, namely Akil Mochtar (former Chairman of Constitutional Court), Susi Andayani (a lawyer who has been arrested by the KPK and charged with bribery, sent the firm several billion rupiah in one transaction) and Tubagus Chaeri Wardhana (husband of South Tangerang Mayor Airin Rachmi Diany).
