REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NYAPYITAW -- Indonesian swimmer Triady Fauzi won another gold medal at the Southeast Asia Games (SEA Games) on Sunday after swimming the fastest in the 50 m freestyle event clocking 23.12 seconds.

The freestyle specialist the day before won a gold medal from the 100 m freestyle event.

The silver medal in the 50 m freestyle event went to Kaiyu Russel Ong from Singapore who clocked 23.14 seconds while the bronze was taken by Gavin Alexander Lewis from Thailand after finishing the race in 23.41 seconds.

Triady Fauzi's time has been declared as breaking the SEA Games record recorded at 23.18 seconds. But based on existing records the SEA Games record was 22.62 seconds held by Daniel Eugenio Coakley from the Philippines made in 2009.

"I am glad I could win a gold medal. But it was not my best time," he said after medal presentation ceremony.

Triady's best time was 22.88 seconds he made in the Islamic Solidarity Games in Palembang, Indonesia, recently.

Although he was not fully satisfied, the swimmer from Ciamis, West Java, said he was proud with his achievement.

These medals are dedicated not only to the country but also to my parents and coaches, he said.

"I will not stop here. I will continue to train to increase my speed. My next target is the Asian Games," he said.

Besides two gold medals Triady also won a silver medal from the 100 m butterfly style event, beating his compatriot, Glen Victor, who finished third to win a bronze medal.

The newly-won gold medal increased the number of gold medals won by the Indonesian swimming team to four. Two other gold medals were contributed by Ricky Anggawijaya and I Gede Siman Sudartawa.
