REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President Director of Mahaka Group, Erick Thohir said that movie of Soekarno that was directed by Hanung Bramantyo was made to create a national figure for young people today. National film industry can also be further improved through this film.
Thohir who is also President Director of Inter Milan explained that Indonesia's young generation had to know more the national figures.
"We have to more recognize Soekarno. Indonesia's young generation always look the West figures, such as John F Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln, or Mahatma Gandhi. We also have so many heros," Thohir said.
He hopes that Indonesian film quality continues to increase and gives birth to more movie producers. Nationalist mindset must be built in young generation.
Sukarno (June 6, 1901 – June 21, 1970) was the first President of Indonesia. He helped the country win its independence from the Netherlands. Soekarno movie tells the history of Soekarno proclaimed Indonesian independent.
This movie is produced by MPV Productiion, Dapur Film and Mahaka Picture. Soekarno is the third film produced by Mahaka Picture.
