President to spend two nights in Bengkulu

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BENGKULU -- President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will visit the capital city of Bengkulu and spend two nights in the province to attend the commemoration of National Press Day in February, Bengkulu Governor Junaidi Hamsyah has said.

"The President has confirmed his readiness to attend the commemoration of National Press Day in February 2014," Junaidi stated, when contacted by phone on Tuesday.

The Bengkulu governor was in Bogor, West Java, to attend a coordination meeting of governors across Indonesia.

"The President expressed his wilingness to attend the commemoration of National Press Day at the coordination meeting of governors at the Bogor Palace. He will spend at least two nights in Bengkulu," he added.

When asked about the plan to demonstrate development activities in Bengkulu to the president, the governor said he had already met the cabinet secretary in connection with the matter.

The regional and central organizing committees of the event have also held a meeting with the central executive board of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) at the Press Council building in Jakarta.

The meeting discussed preparations for the event, head of the Bengkulu provincial transportation, communication and information office Eko Agusrianto said.

"One of the topics discussed at the meeting was the extra activities that will be carried out when the President visits Bengkulu," he added.
