REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PT Bank BNI Syariah welcomed the appointment of 17 Islamic Banks (BUS) and Sharia Units (UUS) especially BNI Syariah, as authoritative bank to deposit Hajj Operation Costs (BPIH). BNI Syariah saw it as a form of support on Islamic banking.

BNI Syariah hopes hajj fund transfer process could be accelerated.

"Currently, the deadline is June 2014, whereas based on previous decision the deadline is before the end of one year after the issuance of the Decree of the Minister of Religious Affairs (KMA) about hajj funds or before April 2014," Director of BNI Syariah, Imam T Saptono said on Wednesday (4/12).

Related to the readiness of BUS and UUS to be BPIH, Saptono said Islamic banks were ready to manage the fund.

In terms of the distribution of funds, Islamic banking has almost reached Rp 200 trillion in financing to Deposite Ratio (FDR) or above 100 percent. Its Non-Performing Financing (NPF) was in the range of 3 percent.

"So if we get transfer of funds of Rp12 trillion from conventional banks, we have been ready," he said.

Moreover, BUS and UUS already has more than 2.000 outlets across Indonesia besides channeling outlets and conventional banks as BPIH point of transit.

"Essentially both BPIH services and Hajj fund management, Inshallah, BUS and UUS especially BNI Syariah have been ready," he said.
