REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta provincial government will open call center through an integrated emergency system in telephone number of 119. This service is provided not only to receive health report, but also to report domestic violence and sexual harassment.

Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama said that if there were people who experienced domestic violence, they could report to clinic which has a family unit to received domestic violence reports. They could call the police too. However, this service was seen still less effective.

"It still used phone number and residents were difficult to remember it. Now, there is a call center 119 at Jakarta Health Department. We will use it and put some operators. If someone involved in the incident, he or she can immediately call 119," Purnama said on Monday.

The 119 call center service is still not perfect due its limited information access about ward, ambulance and medical services. Therefore, current administration is trying to correct the system in order to improve public services.

Based on data from National Commission for Women, an increase in domestic violence against women reached 4.35 percent or 4,293 cases. The highest cases are sexual assault (2,521 cases), rape (840 cases) and sexual abuse (780 cases).
