REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR -- Two Golkar Party members who were arrested at a night club in Jakarta early Saturday on drug charges have tested negative for drugs, a party spokesman said.

"They have tested negative for drugs," Secretary of the Bali Provincial Executive Board of the Golkar Party Komang Purnama said here on Saturday.

Komang said the two Golkar cadres who belong to the Bangli district legislative council (DPRD) had been released.

The party's provincial executive board planned to summon them on Monday to explain the arrest, he said.

He denied a report that they were in Jakarta to attend a national meeting of the party's leaders.

"I should like to affirm that they did not attend the meeting but paid a working visit. Only provincial party leaders attended the meeting," he said.

Asked whether the two cadres had violated the party's discipline as he visited the night club, he said: "we will summon them to ask about their presence there (night club), among others. It could be part of the working visit."

A report said earlier that a number of people were netted at Crown night club in Glodok, West Jakarta, early Saturday for allegedly consuming drugs.

Two of the people were chief of the commission I of the legislative council I Made Santika and chief of the Golkar faction at the legislative council I Gede Koyan Eka Putra.
