REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MILAN -- Following Erick Thohir’s arrival at Inter, their sporting director Marco Branca gave a little insight on the new milieu surrounding the club.
Thohir decided to retain Branca’s services as sporting director, having been at the club since 2002.
“I like him a lot. He has a lot of enthusiasm and has laid down the guide lines on how he wants the club to be structured, but nothing more. At the moment I cannot say more,” he spoke to Fcinternews.it after a meeting with the Indonesian businessman.
The former striker also does not expect wholesome changes in the near future and seems to have set his eyes on the Nerazzurri winning the 2016 champions league final which is to be played at the San Siro.
Branca then hailed Massimo Moratti’s influence and stature, whose 18-year reign at Inter came to an end this week.
“Moratti? He is our honorary president and I do not need to tell him anything publicly."
“He has done something unimaginable for Inter and the fans, as the club hadn’t won much when he arrived. It took time, passion and a lot of resources. So there is definitely gratitude towards him. ”
On the club’s new policy of giving preference to young talent, Branca stated it was important that the youth are given time to succeed and asked the fans to be patient and entrust the club with the responsibility of nurturing such talent.
The former striker has been an integral part of the back-room set up, overseeing the transfer of many high-profile signings such as Wesley Sneijder, Samuel Eto’o and Diego Milito.
