REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama accepted a trade envoy of British Prime Minister to Indonesia, Richard Graham at City Hall on Wednesday. In this meeting, Purnama explained his intention to buy British Embassy's land in Jakarta.

"He said that he wanted to sell the land at a business price. For me, the important thing is the land not sold to someone else. We want to build a green open space there," Purnama said recently.

Jakarta provincial government will survey the market price (not based on the Selling Value of Tax Object) before buying the ex-British Embassy building. If the land is bought by private companies, Purnama said he is afraid the land will be changed to another commercial function.

"It is better to build a park and police station. People can see the views of Hotel Indonesia traffic circle in Central Jakarta," Purnama added.

British Embassy plans to move its office to Kuningan, Rasuna Said street. British Ambassador to Indonesia, Charles Humfrey has met Governor of Jakarta, Joko Widodo to discuss it.
