REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The presidential candidate of Democrat party's convention Marzuki Alie said Indonesia should assess sovereign in all areas so that the necessary attitudes and concepts in building the nation and not be a stooge of other nations.

"Indonesia should be sovereign in all areas, such as the economy and it need to have the attitude and character in building the country," Alie said in his office, Parliament Complex Nusantara I Building, Jakarta, Monday (11/11).

Indonesian sovereignty, according to him, is to avoid Indonesia as a stooge for other nation, lot of things it can be done to maintain sovereign Indonesia in all fields.

Marzuki cited the state should be sovereign in managing natural resources and food problems.

"If we were not in control then the [freedom] fighters would cry to see conditions in Indonesia," he said.
