REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Ahead of the meeting of the national leadership of Golkar Party, Akbar Tanjung hinted his support to Gita Wirjawan to go forward as a presidential candidate in the 2014 election.

According to Tanjung, Gita's personality is qualified to be the leader of Indonesia.

"He is young, professional, and trustworthy. On occupying a governmental position, that's the requirement for the top job," Tanjung said on the sidelines of confinement of DPP Barindo in Jakarta, Sunday (10/11).

However, Akbar confirmed as Chairman of the Golkar's Advisory body, he still supported the candidacy of Bakrie as the presidential candidate.

This is because he has decided (Aburijal Bakrie) Ical's candidacy through national leadership meeting (rapimnas) of Golkar.

"Formally and structurally I support Pak Ical," said the Chairman of the Honorary Council of Barindo.

Meanwhile Gita Wirjawan said he felt grateful if Akbar Tanjung supports himself as a 2014 presidential candidate.

"I'm thankful if supported by bang Akbar," he said.

Gita stated despite he himself and Akbar both are Barindo's leadership member, but he did not want to exploit Barindo as a political vehicle to win the Democrat Party's presidential convention.

He also confirmed that the victory of a candidate more determined by people's choice, not by one political figure.

"Barindo is purely for social organization," he said.
