REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TIMIKA -- PT AVCO is trusted to manage Mozes Kilangin Timika airport in Papua built by PT Freeport Indonesia. The operator will tighten inspection of passengers' luggage to prevent the entry of illegal goods.
Head of Mozes Kilangin Timika airport, Subagyo Hadidjan said that the inspection was conducted as discovery of dozens of alcoholic beverages on Merpati flight from Makassar and Manado to Timika on October 29-30, 2013.
"We appreciate Police and Freeport internal security that managed to prevent such illegal action," Hadidjan said recently.
Efforts to prevent the entry of illegal goods to Mozes Kilangin Timika airport will always be conducted. Although alcoholic beverages that are confiscated at the airport are not so many, but it is considered that effect of alcohol consumption is bad for society.
Mimika Police Chief, Com Jermias Rontini said that Mimika police had destroyed 88 bottles of whisky red bulls. There were also 48 bottles of Cap Tikus. Mimika police commits to combat the entry of illegal goods to Timika. During 2013, Police has confiscated eight tonnes of alcoholic beverages in Port of Paumako, East Mimika district.
