REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CIREBON - Torchlight parade colored Islamic New Year's Eve celebration, Muharram 1, 1435 Hijri in Cirebon on Monday night. The activity was one of a series of 644th Cirebon anniversary. 

Torchlight parade was followed by local civil servants, representatives of village and district, school students and citizens. The event was started around 08.30 PM by Mayor of Cirebon, Ano Sutrisno and attended by others. 

Torchlight parade was started in City Hall of Cirebon, accompanied by music parades called Genjring, tambourine and sholawatan song. The activity got high enthusiasm from all community. 

"I have been waiting for this event since afternoon," a resident, Kinan said. 

Beside torchlight parade, a series of activities to celebrate Cirebon anniversary also previously filled with a pilgrimage to the tomb of Sunan Gunung Jati. Community also listened to the reading of Cirebon Chronicles in Kanoman Keraton.
