Bali's export increases

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR - Bali earned foreign exchange from various export of merchandise worth 40.37 million USD for September 2013. It increased 18.97 percent compared to previous month of 33.94 million USD.

"Various types of merchandise exports from Bali was mainly supported by small industries and handicrafts which penetrated to US market and absorbed 19.67 percent," Head of Statistics Indonesia in Bali, Gede Suarsa said on Monday.

The rest is absorbed by Singaporean market (12.30 percent), Japan (10.99 percent), Australia (9.20 percent, Thailand (4.13 percent) and other countries (43.71 percent).

Suarsa explained that five major commodities from Bali which were exported to foreign markets were fish and shrimp products (20.60 percent), confection (not knitted) (12.07 percent), jewelry products (11.93 percent), wood products and timber goods (11.77 percent) and home lighting furniture (8.64 percent).

Balinese merchandise which are exported to four major countries, namely United States, Japan, Australia and Thailand decreased when compared to September 2012, each 13.75 percent, 11.11 percent, 12.37 percent and 17.30 percent.

However, when compared with August 2013, export figures increased each 10.36 percent, 74.40 percent, 34.61 percent and 26.45 percent. Export to Singapore also increased by 62.31 percent in September 2013 and 82.45 percent in August 2013.
