REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- Survei Independen Nusantara Agency (LSIN), a national survey agency showed that public recommended central figure or main character of a political party to be nominated as president candidate for next year. Survey was conducted on August 15 to September 20 2013 involved 1,500 respondents from 34 provinces in Indonesia.
"Beside three major political party (Democratic Party, Golkar and PDI-P), it is difficult for public to find main character or central figure of political parties as they have only few national figures except founder or chairman, such as Gerindra, Hanura, PKS, PKB and Nasdem," Executive Director of LSIN, Yasin Mohammad said recently.
Candidates' electability percentage of political parties recommended several names. From Gerindra, they are Prabowo Subianto (70.7 percent) and Fadlizon (1.9 percent). From Hanura Party, they are Wiranto (55,5 percent), Harry Tanoe Sudibyo (11,1 percent). From PKS, they are Hidayat Nur Wahid (50,7 percent) and Anis Matta (13,8 percent). From PAN, they are Amin Rais (35,7 percent), Hatta Rajasa (30,8 percent). From PPP, there is only Surya Dharma Ali (30,8 percent) who was recommended by public.
Public only knew one name from these parties, namely Muhaimin Iskandar of PKB (15.1 percent), Yusril Ihza Mahendra of PBB (41.8 percent), Surya Paloh of Nasdem (34.9 percent) and Sutiyoso of PKPI (13.7 percent).
Mohammad said that this phenomenon could not be separated from the existence of political parties which were always centered on figure of founder or chairman. It makes a political party cannot put an alternative figure in public eyes.
Some names, such as Jokowi, Jusuf Kalla, Mahfud MD, Rhoma Irama and Dahlan Iskan are most often mentioned as president or vice president candidate.
