REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) welcomes the launch of sharia tourism products by government through Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. Chairman of MUI, Amidhan said that sharia tourism products would give benefits to all tourists, Muslim and non-Muslim.

"We are grateful to Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and fully support this program. Sharia tourism products is not an Islamic propaganda, but the implementation of what is taught in Islam," Amidhan said on Wednesday.

Indonesia as a country with the largest Muslim population in the world is proper to have sharia tourism products. Availability of sharia tourism products aims to meet Muslim tourist needs when making a trip. More than that, Islamic tourism products can also be used for non-Muslim.

"Halal for Muslims is a manifestation of Allah (God) in form of piety. While for non-Muslims, halal products are meant safe and good for health. Halal certification must go through National Drug and Food Control Agency (BPOM), so the safety and health are guaranteed," Amidhan added.
