REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PT Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk.'s (INDF) sales touched Rp41.28 trillion in the third quarter of this year, a growth of 10.5 percent from Rp37.36 trillion recorded during the same period last year.
"The Consumer Branded Products (CBP) Group continues to be the main contributor, accounting for about 45 percent of the consolidated net sales, while the Bogasari Group has accounted for 26 percent, agribusiness 20 percent, distribution 8 percent, and Minzhong one percent," said the food company's President Director, Anthoni Salim, in a press statement received here on Wednesday.
The value of total sales of the CBP Group - comprising the instant noodle division, dairy, biscuits, food seasoning, nutrition, and special foods divisions - grew 13.8 percent. This was mainly driven by the increase in the sales volume in all main divisions in the group and an increase in the average selling price.
The total value of sales of the Bogasari Group, meanwhile, rose 18.1 percent on account of an increase in average price and sales volume.
The total value of sales in the Agribusiness Group fell by 9.3 percent due to a drop in the average selling price of palm oil products and rubber as well as a decline in the sales of vegetable oil and fat.
The total sales value of the Distribution Group rose by 16.3 percent due to the growth in sales of the CBP Group.
In September, the Minzhong Group recorded a total sales value of Rp365.6 billion.
Profit in the current period that may be distributed to the principal entity owner dropped by 24.6 percent to Rp1.92 trillion in the third quarter. This is because of an increasing burden caused by a rise in employees' pay, salary, and payments as well as cost of shipping and handling, promotion and advertisement, price of raw materials, and a drop in the average selling price in the Agribusiness Group.
"Because of the loss from the exchange rate margin, the net profit margin has dropped to 4.7 percent from 6.8 percent. Neglecting non-recurring account and exchange rate margin, the core profit - which reflects operational performance - rose 0.9 percent to Rp2.57 trillion in the third quarter from Rp2.54 trillion in the same period last year," Anthoni stated.
