REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia-North Korea Friendship Association appreciated the positive attention of President Susilo Bambang Yudhyono over the conflict in Korean Peninsula. Yudhoyono, it said, has a potential to be a peacemaker.

"Indonesia is considered as a country that has good reputation in international. Yudhoyono is also considered as one of influential leaders of the world," Secretary General of Indonesia-North Korea Friendship Association, Teguh Santosa said this weekend.

Santosa said that the two Koreas have wait for a long time for a peaceful solution. In a meeting with President of Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (Kim Yong Na) in Pyongyang, Minister of Foreign Affairs (Marty Natalegawa) submitted a letter of Yudhoyono. President said that communication of two Koreas required a breakthrough and unconventional method.

Compared to other countries, Indonesia has a neutral motif, because the country has no direct influence on Korean Peninsula and East Asia. Indonesia has also good relationships with both Koreas and four other countries in Korean Peninsula, namely China, Japan, Russia and United States.

"Indonesia is more trusted by international community. I think that Yudhoyono needs to improve Indonesia's role as a peacemaker state," he said.
