REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Minister of Forestry, Zulkifli Hasan told about his meeting with Horrison Ford when the Hollywood star interviewed him at his office on Monday for a documentary film in Indonesia. Ford interviewed Hasan as part of his documentary film about global warming that took pictures in some Indonesian forests, including in Palangkaraya (Central Kalimantan) and Riau.
Journalists, both electronic and print media who have been waiting for three hours disappointed as Ford immediately left the office. He refused to be interviewed. Tree planting event which has been prepared at Ministry of Forestry also cancelled.
Hasan then gave press statement to reporters. He said that he and Ford have signed a contract that Indiana Jones's actor would not give any statement and also press conference. During the interview, Ford asked leading question that Indonesia's forests have severely damaged while the perpetrators were left unaccountable.
"I understand this is the first time for him to come here and he wants to see Tesso Nilo National Park in Riau. There, he wants to see if any perpetrator involved in forest damage and immediately arrested. He's got high temper during interview, his emotions ran high. I can understand his love for animals, environment and Indonesian rain forests," Hasan said recently.
Hasan explained to Ford that forest damage in Indonesia had to be tackled gradually. Illegal forest clearing could no longer be responded with force, but by provided areas for productive forestry activities.
