More CN-295 aircrafts to strengthen Indonesian Air Force

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUPANG - Colonel of Defence Industry Policy Committee, Amperiawan Gita said Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU) would receive more technical transportation aircrafts CN-295 types next month. Currently the aircrafts are still assembled in Spain then will be customized in Indonesia.

"We ordered nine CN-295 aircrafts for second squadron of Indonesian Air Force this year. We have recieved two of them and two more will come next month," Gita said recently.

From nine CN-295 units, only the last two units will be fully assembled by PT Dirgantara Indonesia in Bandung, West Java. Gita hopes the company will be able to produce its own aircrafts in Indonesia soon.

Gita said that Air Force would continue to add more CN-295 aircratfs up to 16 units. He explained that CN-295 aircraft had the capacity of 79 passengers if the plane modified with elongated bench model. CN-295 is special plane to transport both troops and logistics.
