An Indonesian Islamic bank will expand to Europe

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - An Islamic commercial bank, Bank Syariah BJB, has an opportunity to expand its business to Luxembourg, Europe. President Director of Bank Syariah BJB, A Riawan Amin has met with several Luxembourg monetary authorities, such as Ministry of Finance, Governor of Central Bank, as well Financial Service Authority to discuss the opportunity.

"They provide an opportunity for Bank Syariah BJB to operate there. The opportunity is supported by Indonesian Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg and European Union, Arif Havas Oegroseno," Amin said on Thursday.

After the global financial crisis that hits Europe, the region is still potential as investment sources for Indonesia then particularly in Bank Syariah BJB.

Currently the bank has opened operations in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Based on location, Bank Syariah BJB operates mainly in West Java, Banten, and Jakarta. Besides living in Indonesia, the bank customers also live in Middle East, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.
