REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Three thousand Indonesian citizens are still in Syria, trapped in middle of a civil war. Indonesian Embassy in Beirut continues to evacuate them through Lebanon.

"During month of Ramadan or until mid of July, we have collaborated with Indonesian Embassy in Damascus to repatriate 240 Indonesian citizens," Head of  information, Social and Cultural at Indonesian Embassy in Beirut, Wendi Budi Raharjo said on Thursday.

One five month old baby was among female workers who were evacuated from Syria. The baby and the mother arrived in Beirut on July 4, 2013 and got all basic needs including baby diapers, food, clothing, health care, and doctors. They were reported in good condition and were repatriated to Indonesia on July 15, 2013. 

Indonesian shelter at Embassy in Beirut is still accommodate 176 people, while 230 other people are placed in Damascus shelter.

Indonesian Ambassador to Lebanon, Dimas Samodra Rum said cost of repatriation of Indonesian citizens using regular plane was funded by government.
