Islamic book business welcomes the fasting month of Ramadan

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Business in Islamic book prepares to welcome the fasting month of Ramadan. Chairman of Indonesian Publishers Association (Ikapi) of Jakarta, Afrizal Sinaro said many books related to Ramadan activities would be published this year.

"For example, guidebooks of worship including fasting and prayer at Ramadan night. These new books are published in different models,"  Sinaro said on Tuesday.

There are hundreds of publishers of Islamic book listed in Ikapi and about 30 percent of 284 publishers is Islamic book publishers. They take opportunity of Ramadan to increase their book sales. Al-Mawardi Publisher for example, the number of sales increased over 20 percent in the last Ramadan.

All books entitled Islam became the most favorable during Ramadan, including children's books, novels for teens, books for adults and also for parents. Ikapi organizes some events on Juli 1-4, like Ramadan Islamic Book Fair in Palembang, South Sumatra. This event cooperated with Forum of Boarding School of South Sumatra. Other event is Republika Book Fair at At-Tiin Mosque of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). While another book fair will be held at Pekan Raya arena in Jakarta.
